The Adventures of Kid Catastrophe out In Stores today, June 9th (Finally!)
US Summer Tour Announced with The Builders and The Butchers

“The group digs deep into the well of American dreams and comes out with handfuls of anthemic after-hours laments, hip-hop beats, riffs, and a hint of what you can expect to hear rattling the halls of saloons in the not-too-distant future.” - iTunes (Indie Spotlight)

“I was ready to stand and applaud.” - The Tripwire

Bucks County, PA band-that-could Illinois are putting their sprawling, 20-song endeavor The Adventures of Kid Catastrophe on the shelves at your local record store today, June 9th. The deluxe edition of The Adventures of Kid Catastrophe first premiered digitally on May 5th as the iTunes Alt/Rock Indie Spotlight featured artist and now finally sees its physical release nationwide.

For 6 long months leading up to this deluxe edition, the band pounded the virtual pavement all across the interweb, releasing a 3-song EP & video chapter per month from November ’08 – April ‘09. While this project prompted lots of explanation and prodding initially, these EPs and film snippets began to spread virally, gaining champions among radio tastemakers KCRW, KEXP, KCMP (The Current), WXPN, WRFF/Philadelphia, Live105/San Francisco, KNDD/Seattle, KNRK/Portland, WEQX/Albany, and KEDJ/Phoenix, and love from a variety of outlets, such as Spin, PureVolume, imeem, AOL Spinner, Shockhound, Fuel TV, Spin.com, Filter, Brooklyn Vegan, Blender.com, IFC, RCRD LBL The Tripwire, CMJ, Relix, URB, BlackBook, 944, Flavorpill, LimeWire, Blurt, Venus, MetroPop, The Music Slut and Daytrotter. Their blitz on the internet led them to rise to the #3 artist on PureVolume and lead single ‘Hang On,' in particular, got so much attention that it made it up to #6 in the Elbo.ws blog aggregator ‘Hot Tracks' chart. Most recently, Magnet Magazine has agreed to give away and mp3 of ‘Big Country’ via their website, starting today.

Their Kid Catastrophe release shows have garnered attention from around the country, especially in their home turf: WRFF (Philadelphia) recently invited the band in for a live session and interview, as has WXPN, who has additionally invited them to play their XPoNential Music Festival alongside artists like Aimee Mann, The Hold Steady, and Annuals. (And the Bacon Brothers. Ripper!). The band has also received hometown love from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Weekly, Philadelphia City Paper, and Philly Edge, among others. Their reputation for putting on a riotous live show preceded them in other East Coast ports like NY and Boston, via the NY Post, Village Voice, Time Out NY, NY Press, Boston Metro, AM NY, Boston Weekly Dig, Boston Herald, NY Metro, and L Magazine.

With the music portion of the project available for fans to have and to hold – now literally – the 6 video chapters have culminated in a 22-minute narrative that is featured on the homepages of both YouTube and PureVolume and can now be viewed across the internet.

“From its Tom Waits-esque pots and pans percussives to the down-home and spare or the lovelorn, acoustic… to the porch-party antics… a band of constant surprises. A rich mine of glistening, aural gems, this Pennsylvania five-piece can certainly tackle an impressive range of attitudes, rhythms and stories-within-songs.” - Filter

“Arch and company don’t write the same song twice and yet the consistency in quality of material is staggeringly high for a group that takes so many turns and chances.” - Daytrotter

“Bucks County, PA's Illinois have made a name for themselves on the strength of their shape-shifting sound and prolific releases. Boasting an array of instruments, a grassroots following, and heaping helping of self-deprecating humor, front-man Arch Archibald and his band-mates are poised for the big time.” - Limewire
